| Museum quality antique beige wool Handira with black, pale gold, soft green, coral, and brick tones of cotton embroidery in stripes, lozenge shapes, narrow rectangles, and star of David patterns. This Zenmour woman's cape, known as a "tamizart" was often woven in silk and fine wool, occasionally with sequins. It can be used as a lightweight bedcover or extraordinary wall hanging. White or ivory horizontal plainweave bands separate symmetrical but non-repeating pattern panels, whose tightly woven designs reflect the high level of craftsmanship. Fewer of these Tamizart are available as the nomadic life style gives way to more permanent dwellings. Acquired directly from a Berber family in the Middle Atlas village of Khémisett. Shows wear and some discoloration on edges. A true collection piece. 5' x 7'1"
