Tightly woven, kilim-style pillows of wool, some with cotton embroidery and "mouzon" (sequins) in deep burgundy, black, gray, and ivory. Unlike the Turkish version, Moroccan pillows are decorated on both sides, the back being simpler than the front which accents the geometric pattern with bright orange, green, blue, or violet jewel-like shapes. These are superb examples of the skill of Berber woman who weave them and treasure them for years. Technique, in the majority of this work, is weft-faced plainweave with weft substitution. Borders and pattern panels usually show zig-zag forms, diamond or half-diamond shapes, and small triangles. Many pillows have passed through three generations of a single household. Since size and coloration vary, please let us know what you have in mind by e-mail or our toll-free number 1-888-827-0600 and we will try to identify the perfect choice.
