We cannot find words for our admiration of this Essaouira craftsman's wood working. He painstakingly carves each segment of this cedar mirror by hand, using a miniscule file and stencil to create the elaborate open-work that makes up its frame. His atelier is filled with one-of-a-kind tables, screens, small picture frames, sconces, chandeliers, and mirrors -- one more exquisite than the next. All work is special order. Specify size, style of cabinetry, and function. We will provide an immediate estimate and time-table. (23" x 18")

Moucharabie is the name given to this kind of wood-work. It was used in residences to allow the women to see outside without being seen by passing males in the street. It is double-bordered in intricately carved silvered metal on the front and sides, with accents of blue, white, and red stones. Very Moorish in feel, it might well have been found on houses and old palaces in southern Spain. (28"h x 20 1/4"w)
