Spectacular, one-of-a-kind Touareg leather hanging bread basket, intended to keep the family staple away from creeping, crawling things. Wood frame surrounds the basket, woven with red, yellow, green, and white bands, then shaped to hold the flat bread made in the desert. Hand-formed leather-link chain holds this basket high. Exceptional collection piece. We've never found any others available on the open market. You can't get more "ethnic" than this.
8" high x 11" diam at widest point.
C799 Hanging Breadbasket $225
Incredible craftsmanship. Richly colored leathers, fringed and tassled embellishments, fantasy and finesse, and still more remarkable is the fact that these tobacco pouches were fully functional. Open the many compartments to reveal a place for small coins, and other necessary objects with which Tuaregs might be traveling through the desert. The larger one even has the beautifully made, original brass pipe in its first section.
C643a 9-inch Tobacco Pouch and Pipe $125
C643b 6-inch Tobacco Pouch $70

Smaller highly detailed leather pipe and tobacco holder from a Tuareg group. Black and red hole-punched and bas-relief incised motifs open to a second yellow leather flap with green and red narrow striping, finally to end with a charming copper and acacia pipe enclosed by the innermost flap. (5")
